On30 Project Layout Part 2: Building the Base Scenery

Writer: Stephen StrumStephen Strum

I’ve completed the base scenery on the On30 layout. I built a mountain out of sulptamold covered foam, built base areas for the structures, ballasted the track, built some cribbing in places and filled in the ravine, painted the layout base, and stained the rock work. I’ve also temporarily added some nice ponderosa pines from scenic express to give you an idea of what the completed layout will look like. The mine structure is under construction now, and the next video in this series will feature that project, as well as completing all the scenery.
